Coproduction Office is looking for a Film Sales Executive (Maternity Cover) and a Film Catalogue Sales Executive to complete our team of ten people working in a dynamic and international environment. We are looking for colleagues who are globally-minded, have organizational skills, are result-oriented and have an interest in art-house cinema.

 

COMPANY PROFILE:

 

Coproduction Office’s international sales division distributes a catalogue composed of about 100 films either produced by the company founder Philippe Bober, or acquired films and restored classics, including Roberto Rossellini’s key films. The catalogue is unique for its artistic strength, with films that have an individual and distinctive cinematic language, and often daring content. Upcoming films for 2021 include the new films from Ruben Östlund, Ulrich Seidl, Gust Van den Berghe and Michelangelo Frammartino.

 

Philippe Bober has worked with prominent ground-breaking directors from early on in their careers and has produced thirty-two films to date. The majority of these films were selected for the main competitions in Cannes, Venice and Berlin, where they have received many major prizes, most notably the Venice Golden Lion in 2014 for Roy Andersson’s A PIGEON SAT ON A BRANCH REFLECTING ON EXISTENCE, and the Palme d’Or in 2017 for THE SQUARE by Ruben Östlund.

 

 

JOB OUTLINE: FILM SALES EXECUTIVE (MATERNITY COVER)

 

This role is full-time and is initially a fixed term position (a minimum of 9 months), with the opportunity for a permanent role in the future.

 

THE ROLE INCLUDES:

  • Selling our new titles and catalogue films (territories to be defined).
  • Coordinating, in collaboration with Philippe Bober, the sales team composed of five colleagues (festival and sales coordinator, marketing & business affairs, deliverables coordinator, finance assistant and sales intern).
  • Defining the sales strategy in collaboration with Philippe Bober.
  • Preparing Sales Estimates and monitoring the results.
  • Preparing Sales Expenses budget
  • Researching new customers; market studies and monitoring distributors’ box office and analysis.
  • Preparing for and attending international festivals and events (Rendez-vous d’Unifrance in Paris, EFM in Berlin, Cannes film festival, Toronto, Rome).
  • Coordinating financing applications.
  • Participating in test screenings of our films

 

JOB OUTLINE: FILM CATALOGUE SALES EXECUTIVE

 

This role is a full-time permanent position with the potential for career progression.

  • International Sales for catalogue titles (and some territories for upcoming titles)
  • Participating in strategic discussion about the positioning and marketing of a film
  • Planning (marketing and sales) before each international market
  • Attending markets, and in particular Cannes and TV markets
  • Researching and establishing new opportunities for sales and rights exploitation
  • Drafting Deal Memos
  • Preparing sales financing applications (French, German and European funds)
  • Participating in test screenings of our films

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

FOR BOTH ROLES, YOU ARE:

  • Able to demonstrate previous experience in the film industry, and in particular in international sales.
  • A native or fully fluent English-speaker with an excellent command of a second language (German, French, or Chinese is a plus)
  • Proficient with Excel (market studies, budgets etc.)
  • Eloquent, with strong communication skills, you are capable of interacting with film professionals (distributors, funds, directors...)
  • A perfectionist, with attention to detail and able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Flexible with a proactive skill set

 

ADDITIONALLY, FOR THE SALES EXECUTIVE ROLE, YOU ARE:

  • Able to line manage staff and have demonstrable experience

  • Obtain valuable experience in international sales from working with our founder, Philippe Bober, on unique films
  • Gain an oversight on different aspects of the company, including finance and production, as we are small and flexible company
